DAVID VICTOR - BUY THE MUSIC

ImpactVelocity - Impact
Rockhard Music Media - release date: 1997

This is the one that started the "riot"! IMPACT contains all the tunes that got an incredible amount of airplay (especially for an indie release) in 1998. Songs like the lead single "You Don't Amaze Me Anymore", the ballad "Janine" and the full crotch-rocker "Love Is Dangerous". This album just sounds too good to play quietly...so play it LOUD. Please see the full story of the album here.

I recorded this album largely in my home studio on ADATs and Cakewalk Pro Audio (before it became SONAR, which I still use currently).

'IMPACT wound up selling over 12,000 copies worldwide, and I'm happy to say it still sells consistently to this day!

ActivatorVelocity - Activator
Accelerator Records - release date: 2001

This was the second official Velocity album, albeit only an EP. Essentially, this album comprised the Portrait demo we did for John Kalodner in 2000, plus the addition of one track they didn't hear (and my favorite on the album), "Alive". ACTIVATOR was viewed by many fans of IMPACT as a radical departure, but as the years have passed I've come to disagree with that assesment even more than I did when I first released the album.  This thing kicks ass, contains some nice vocals and melodies, and the production is top-notch.

I did the whole thing at home in Digital Performer using a Mackie Digital 8-Buss (a great mixer, still to this day with the best digital EQ I've ever heard!)

NOTE: Too bad I didn't press this release myself...a total crap label named Dreamscape did and they are the beneficiaries of any purchases these days, until I can get the funds to re-release it myself.

David Victor - Proof Through The Night

The project had me re-purchase the same machine that I had recently sold in order that I could do a proper re-mix and re-master, as the original album was released on cassette only (uh, remember those?) Eventually I decided to re-record all the drums with my friend Todd Beaty, as well as touch up a few vocals that had bugged me through the years.

"Proof Through The Night" features the lead single "Getaway Machine" which is a homage to the area I now call home (Los Angeles, California!)  I always had such a great time coming down here on vacations from Northern California where I lived, and I wanted to write a song that evoked those great midnight drives down the coast.
